Richard A. Werner is a German economist and university professor in banking and finance. He holds a B.Sc. in Economics from the London School of Economics and a doctorate in Economics from the University of Oxford. He has held academic positions at numerous universities including Southampton, Fudan University in Shanghai, and Goethe-University Frankfurt. Werner is known for his 2001 book "Princes of the Yen," which analyzes the role of Japan's central bankers in its economic cycles, and for proposing a policy he named "Quantitative Easing" in Japan in 1995.
